Soul Surfer is a family movie inspired by the life of Bethany Hamilton.
I loved AnnaSophia Robb, who played Bethany. She's cute and fun and reminded me of Lindsay Lohan before Lindsay turned into a tabloid newpaper's dream. Carrie Underwood made her film debut, but I felt her acting was stiff and unimaginative. Dennis Quad and Helen Hunt played Bethany's parents and their roles were excellent! (I've always enjoyed Helen Hunt and consider her my Hollywood look-alike.)
My favorite line was when Bethany was interviewed after the shark attack. She told reporters she wouldn't go back to the way she was before because she can embrace a lot more people with one arm than she ever could have with two.
Isn't that the way it is with our trials? It's no fun in the midst of them, but later on we appreciate our trials for making us who we are - and we are stronger for them.

This film will have you cheering for Bethany - for her faith, strength and determination to live her dreams despite all obstacles. If you haven't seen Soul Surfer - watch it this week!
