Adoption Q & A Monday

How did you share the news of your hope to adopt?

To say we shared the news every chance we got would be a bit of an understatement... We told friends and family via email, facebook and our blog. We reached out to the community with pass-along cards and by joining Families Supporting Adoption. We even put a sticker on the back window of our car expressing our desire to adopt and a link to our website. We did everything we could think of to spread word. For a year and a half we heard about possible adoptions, but nothing ever happened. Our efforts didn't go completely unnoticed, though. A friend of ours told us about an adoption agency she knew about. She said they needed more families and encouraged us to apply. We did and by the end of the second year of searching...we found our son. For our second adoption I skipped all the other ways of sharing our news and emailed several adoption agencies directly about our desire to adopt and our willingness to hear about available adoption situations. I heard about a lot more possibilities this way, but eventually read a blog post about an available situation. I quickly called to see if we would be a good match and that's how I found our daughter. This was after just five months of being approved to adopt again!
