*Written a few weeks ago - but forgot to post this:
As we get closer to celebrating ZJ's second birthday, my heart is full. Full of love and appreciation for his birthfamily. Wonder at how amazing everything turned out for us. Gratitude for all of God's gifts to us.

A lot of couples worry about what to give the woman giving the greatest gift to them.
We wondered too.
But the greatest gift that needs to be given is nothing you can buy at the store.
The greatest gift an adoptive parent can give is promises kept.
If you promised to send letters every month
Do it.
If you promised to call on birthdays and holidays
Make the calls.
If you promised visits
Visit.
If her heart is breaking and she needs some reassurance from you
Give it.
It's easy to make promises; much harder to keep them.
The only reason we have ZJ in our home is because we promised visits once a year. The first year was super easy because he just wanted to be held. This past year was a little bit harder because he's so busy, but we managed to have two visits and at least one more planned. Does it take extra effort on our part? Yes. Is that effort worth it?
All I have to do is look into his sweet little face for the answer.
